About Me<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

My name is Ross Singer<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Professionally, I am Interoperability and Open Standards Champion<\/em> at Talis<\/a>.\u00a0 No, I’m not entirely sure what this means, either.\u00a0 My boss thinks of me as a business analyst of sorts although I write code (preferably in Ruby<\/a>) most of my day.\u00a0 The things I write are mostly experiments and proofs-of-concept, however, so there may be something to this.<\/p>\n

Previously, I was an application developer at Georgia Tech’s library<\/a>, Emory University libraries<\/a> and the University of Tennessee libraries<\/a>.\u00a0 I also worked a shortish stint for internet.com<\/a> between Tennessee and Emory, but my career has definitely centered primarily around libraries and library technology.<\/p>\n

While at Georgia Tech I founded MALTA<\/a> (the Metro Atlanta Library Technology Association) where like-minded library technology people in the Atlanta area get together and talk about the projects they are working on.<\/p>\n

Personally, my wife, Selena<\/a>, and I have two children, Isaac<\/a> and Isabel<\/a>.\u00a0 We have a dog, Ava<\/a>, and a cat, Ichabod<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 We live in Chattanooga<\/a>, Tennessee<\/a> in the St. Elmo Historic District<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Educationally, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre<\/a> from the University of Tennessee<\/a>. Of the two theatre companies that I have helped found: one failed miserably, the other is still in existence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Musically, I play the bass guitar.\u00a0 I also noodle around on guitar.<\/p>\n
